About Matt
Matt Surber
Lead Pastor + Founder
He doesn’t coach from a whiteboard. He coaches from the arena.
Matt Surber has spent more than three decades in pastoral ministry, including 20 years as a Lead Pastor. He has served at two of the nation’s fastest-growing churches and built a proven track record of leading through some of the most complex challenges a pastor can face.
Matt led a dying church of 700 to over 3,000 in attendance, expanded a single-site church into a three-campus ministry, and guided two congregational churches through full governance transitions to elder-led leadership structures. He has navigated revitalization, rapid growth, staff development, multisite expansion, and structural transformation — and done it all while protecting his personal health, family, and calling.
That experience isn’t in his past. It’s ongoing. Matt is the Lead Pastor of Mission City Church in San Antonio, Texas — a growing multi-campus church still in the work. When he coaches, he offers hard-won wisdom from someone still in the arena.
